Cary Gray works as a professional artist, designer, and poet in the mountains of Asheville, NC. He creates from a place of humor and joy, playing with what makes us humans both light and dark inside. He struggled as a child to focus and manage his energy levels, often finding himself at the mercy of his own wild emotions. He went through antisocial periods, feeling out of place, and dealt with anxiety and depression, especially in his teens. For this reason, he has devoted his adult life to mindfulness, communication, and authentic self-expression. Because he grew up in the woods of Missouri, he often derives his subject matter from nature, offering just a hint of anthropomophism to otherwise wild animals. He works in a variety of medium types, including graphite, acrylic, watercolor, digital, wood, and metal.
Each of these pieces tells a story of the inner wild we all feel and miss and, with hope, reconnect to when we can.
